BusinessQuest specializes in representing sellers of privately-held, small and medium sized businesses with annual sales up to $20 million. We have two divisions specifically developed to focus on the special and distinct needs of the small business market (less than $1 million in sales) and middle market businesses with sales over $1 million. Using our superior marketing methods and tools, we are able to market your business locally, regionally, nationally or internationally. On average, it takes approximately 6-12 months to complete the sale of a business after we begin marketing the business depending on the size and complexity of the business. Fortunately, there are NO UPFRONT FEES. Our fee is only due if we successfully sell your business in accordance with price and terms acceptable to you. We also offer exit planning consulting services to help our clients that are still 2 to 5 years from being ready to sell but want to prepare their business to get the best price possible and increase the net proceeds they receive from the sale of their most valuable asset.

Keep in mind that our professional brokerage & intermediary services will expose your business to many more serious buyers than you would on your own and that translates into getting the best price the market will bear for your business. The fee for our services should be more than offset by the value of our marketing efforts helping to get you a better price. Of course, this doesn’t even consider the value and peace of mind from having professional help navigating the complicated process of business valuation, pre-screening buyers, business negotiations, avoiding costly mistakes and dealing with the challenges that typically arise during a business acquisition.
Business Valuation. Determining the value of your business is one of the most critical steps in selling your business. Without a business valuation you may under-value the business and leave money on the table or over-price the business and, as a result, not sell the business. Our experience, market-based knowledge and understanding of valuation methodologies enables us to help you sell your business for the best price possible in the shortest time possible.

Marketing The Sale Confidentially. To get the best price possible for the sale of your business, it is necessary to develop an advertising/marketing program that maximizes exposure and the number of prospective buyers that are aware your business is for sale. We have a proven program that combines the power of our business broker network, multi-site internet advertising and direct marketing to others in your industry. All marketing is done in a highly confidentially manner so that your employees, customers, and competitors are not aware your business is for sale.

Finding The Right Buyer. Finding prospective buyers for your business is very important, but even more important, is finding the right buyer. Spending time with every person who claims to be interested in buying a business will waste countless hours and possibly months. Our job is to limit your time to serious buyers that are financially qualified to complete the purchase of your business so you can continue to run your business until the sale is complete. Due Diligence. After an offer has been accepted, the sale is subject to a due diligence period involving a detailed review of the business by the buyer and a more comprehensive review of the buyers ability to complete the purchase of the business. BusinessQuest provides guidance on the process of conducting due diligence and helps facilitate the process through good and constant communications with both buyer and seller.

Closing The Sale. After due diligence is completed, there are a number of significant issues to be addressed and resolved before the sale can be finalized. These include tax releases, bulk sale transfer, lease assignment, allocation of purchase price, financing etc. Under the guidance of BusinessQuest, this is accomplished with the assistance of an escrow service specializing in business escrows so that the sale is properly completed and documented. The purpose of a business sale escrow, similar to a real estate transaction, is to protect both the buyer and seller by completing the transfer of assets through a documented legal process by a neutral third party.
